Good Questions
FAQ
The things people ask before we start a build. Don’t see yours? Just ask.
How much does a custom piece cost?
Every piece is quote-based, because every piece is different. A quote comes down to two things: materials (matched to your budget) and labor (driven by design complexity). Send us what you're picturing and we'll give you a real number — not a vague range.
How far in advance should I book?
Most pieces take 2–8 weeks depending on complexity — a welcome sign is quicker, a full branded cart takes longer. Because we build on evenings and weekends, dates fill up; the earlier you reach out, the better. Rush options are available on select projects.
Do you deliver, or do I pick up?
Both. We deliver and set up within Chicagoland and surrounding states (travel beyond our core radius may add a fee). Many pieces — like our foldable backdrops — are engineered to pack flat and fit in an SUV, so pickup is easy too.
What materials do you build with?
Primarily ½" and ¾" plywood, with the grade matched to your budget and the piece's job. We'll always tell you where it's worth spending and where it isn't.
Can you build from my sketch or Pinterest board?
Yes — that's our favorite way to start. Bring a sketch, a reference image, or just a description. A designer and an engineer will tell you honestly whether it's buildable as-is, suggest tweaks, and turn it into a drawing we can quote.
Do you do work for businesses, not just weddings?
Absolutely. Roughly half of what we build is for brands — branded display carts, retail fixtures, logo panels, and trade-show pieces. If it's wood and it carries your brand, we can make it.
How do payments and deposits work?
A 50% deposit secures your spot and start date; the balance is due before delivery or at pickup. We'll put the scope and timeline in writing so there are no surprises.
How is this different from AH Events?
AH Crafted is the fabrication side — we build custom pieces for you to keep. AH Events is the décor-and-rentals side, where finished pieces are rented for events. Same family, same workshop, two ways to work with us.
